CLIMAte change
What is Climate Change?
Climate change is an overall increase in energy in the atmosphere. As the energy increases, so does the overall temperature, giving it its more common name "Global Warming." Though it is not all about warming, click the button below to get a quick understanding of the topic from none other than Hank Green.
Causes of Climate Change:
- The biggest and most well known is when humans contribute to climate change through the emission of green house gasses (CO2, CH4, and N2O), from burning fossil fuels.
- Also variations in the sun's energy reaching earth.
- Reflectivity in the earth's atmosphere
Effect of Climate Change:
- More, longer and severer droughts.
- Less rain and evaporation leads to less water in lakes, ponds, and oceans.
- Water shortages may result.
- Storms formed over oceans are more severe due to the warmer water. They later go on to cause more trouble and havoc on land in places of more population.
- In some areas, more heat causes more evaporation, thus there is more moisture in the air. This causes more rain and snow fall in some parts of the world. This can lead to flooding.
What can we do?
- We can limit our emission of green house gasses, by limiting our use of fossil fuels. Which is the main cause of global warming.
- Use heating and cooling systems smartly.
- Insulate your home
- REDUCE REUSE AND RECYCLE
- SPREAD THE WORD, GET OTHER INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM
- Know that you are not limited to this list, there are so many things we can do to control climate change!
